ELECTRICAL AND THERMAL
On-site production of power for export into the local public grid (electricity
sales) or on-site consumption are one of the widest applications of biogas nowadays.
Electricity production is done through special Cogeneration Heat and Power
units (CHP) due its superior performance & heat recovery.
|
Typical installed capacity of biogas power plants can range from few
hundred kWh (i.e.100kWhe) to a couple of MWh (i.e. 10 MWhe) of electric power.
Additionally the heat released by the combustion process is recovered by
several heat exchange units. As result about the equivalent amount of heat is
recovered. For instance for a 500kWhe CHP unit, 500kWhth thermal energy couldbe recovered as heat. The combined efficiency reaches up from 80 to 85%.
The possibility of recovering heat energy opens an enormous business
opportunity. Common uses for the heat energy are heating of public buildings
(schools, residential areas, etc.), farm nurseries (chicken, ducks, pigs, turkey,
etc.), drying services (wood, chips, seeds, etc.), Greenhouses, internal heat
for process demands, etc.
The possibilities for the use of heat energy are as big as your imagination. Let your imagination light the way. Let us help you to turn it
into reality.

THERMAL
On-site use of biogas in a boiler unit to substitute the use of fossil
fuels (propane, NG, Diesel, etc.) is a well known application for biogas. Depending on your industrial needs the biogas can be conditioned after
its production to the design specifications of industrial boiler unit(s).
|
No major changes are required if you have a dual-fuel burner. The
installed capacity can range from few hundred kW to several MW of thermal
energy available for your process requirements.
As an example, if your facility is currently burning NG or LPG you can
substitute i.e. 40%, 50%, 70% or 100% of your gas demand or even become a heat
energy exporter if your residues cover +100%.
The burning of biogas reaches a high efficiency that normally ranges
between 80 and 92%. The efficiency depends on the technical auxiliaries at the
boiler unit.
New
business opportunities open up with the use of sustainable energy at the core
of your production process. Please let us show you how to make the most out of
it!

BIOFUELS
Sustainable fuel production
Biogas can also be cleaned and upgraded to natural gas standards when it
becomes bio-methane. It is one of the very few renewable energies that can be
used for direct substitution of fossil fuels in the transportation sector. Once
is compressed it can be used as BIO-CNG due its high energy density.
Raw biogas produced from digestion is roughly 60% methane and 35% CO2 with trace
elements of H2S
and water vapor that makes it not suitable as a vehicle fuel if the
owner was planning on selling this gas or using it for such purpose. The
corrosive nature of H2S alone is enough to
destroy the internals of an expensive engine.
|
Anyway, once the biogas is conditioned to bio-CNG, it is the most
efficient conversion technology for organic residues treatment among all
renewable energy conversion processes. No changes are required for a vehicle
that already runs with CNG.
Existing gasoline-powered vehicles may be converted to allow the use of
CNG or LPG. The cost of the fuel itself often is still much cheaper than oil
based products some part of USA as of 2011 sell a gallon's equivalent for less
than one dollar.
The
bio-methane outperforms bio-ethanol, Bio-diesel, BTL and other technologies as
it delivers the highest energy conversion ratio per unit of input. For this and
many other reasons let us implement for you the most versatile and sustainable
energy solutions.

GAS GRID INJECTION
Biogas can also be cleaned, compressed and conditioned to be upgraded to
natural gas standards to produce bio-methane that is identical in composition
to natural gas.
A molecule of natural gas (Mainly methane CH4) is identical
to a molecule of bio-methane (CH4). As a result bio-methane produced
from biogas can be injected into local and national gas distribution grids.
|
However unlike natural gas, bio-methane is a renewable source of energy
in opposition with natural gas fossil origin. The reason to be injected into
the public grid is multi-dimensional:
- Transport it
large distances at low cost
- Use it in a
multi-purpose way by any user elsewhere (i.e. house boilers, gas stoves,
power plants)
- Burn it in a
large combined cycle power plant reaching energy efficiencies up to 96%
- As bio-CNG in
fuel stations for vehicles
The injection of
bio-methane into gas distribution grids is, however, commonplace in many
European countries, especially in Germany that has many thousand plants into
operation.
|
The technology of
bio-methane to grid is well proven and needs only to be implemented elsewhere
in the world. Please let us help you to make a start on the supply of
sustainable fuel production.

FERTILIZERS
Farming is an
important feature of our way of life. It shapes the landscape we enjoy,
provides much of our food and is a vital part of maintaining and improving a
healthy, thriving and diverse natural environment.
In this sense biogas technology is an allied for sustainable
agricultural management. After the biomass is spent during the bio-digestion
process a rich mineral fertilizer called digestate is left from the process.
The digestate follows a post-treatment process that separates it into a liquid
and a solid fraction.
|
The liquid fraction is rich in mineral nitrogen that is readily
available for uptake by plants and thus for direct application in the land.
The solid fraction constitutes an excellent fertilizer rich in
Phosphorus and Potash. After drying by convection at open air, it can be
upgraded further on into compost.
The success of a biogas project depends strongly of a well planned
digestate management strategy. Depending on the biogas technology there could
be a large or a smaller amount of fertilizer produced, according to your needs.
Let us plan a sound fertilizer strategy that increases your project
profitability while place your company right at the fore-front of sustainable
organic agricultural practices.
